An investor visa, also known as a business visa, is a document that allows you to enter the US to invest and work in your business in the US. The 3 visa options are the visa E1, the E2 visa and the EB5 visa. The following is a brief summary of each investor visa:
The E1 visa is the import/export visa. To qualify, your business must import or export products or services between the United States and your country of nationality. To apply for the E-1 Visa, it is recommended that the value of imports/exports be greater than $100,000 USD in the last 12 months.
The E2 Visa is an investor visa for those seeking to invest in a business in the United States. This visa is known as an E2 investment visa and the minimum recommended investment is between $50,000 and $100,000 USD.
The EB5 Visa is an investor visa that requires a minimum investment of $800,000 USD and the creation of 10 jobs in the United States. Additionally, funds invested in the United States must come from a legal source. The investment can be made in your own business, or in an investment fund called “EB5 Regional Center.” These investment funds invest your money in a project (such as building a hotel, office building, or apartment subdivision). Jobs created by the Regional Center using the EB5 investor’s money are credited to the investor so they can meet the requirement of creating 10 jobs.
